Zachary Invitational Tournament Announcement

Zachary High School Quiz Bowl is pleased to announce our first Zachary Invitational Tournament on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The set being used will consist of standard, pyramidal academic questions with twenty tossups per round and three-bonus questions per tossup. Each team is guaranteed to hear six rounds of preliminary questions. While this is not a NAQT set, the set provided will be a quality set. I’ve attached a few sample questions in the email.

The cost for registration per team will be $60.00, and schools may register more than one team to play. Schools who bring a working buzzer system will receive a $10.00 discount. Schools may only receive a maximum of $20.00 in discounts for buzzers. Cash or checks will be accepted. Please make any checks out to Zachary High School (see attached W-9, if needed). Schools may mail their check early or pay the morning of the tournament:

Zachary High School
4100 Bronco Lane
Zachary, LA 70791

All teams will need to be registered by Thursday, October 25 at 11:59pm. Schools will need to register each team separately using the following google form link: Zachary Invitational Tournament Registration Link

Check-in for teams will occur from 8:00am until 8:30am Saturday morning in Foundation Hall on campus, not the main building. There will be a brief teams’ meeting at 8:30am and a brief readers/staff meeting at 8:45am. There will be six-preliminary rounds of questions starting at 9:00am, and prelims will conclude around 12:30pm. Lunch will be provided and playoffs will start at 1:30pm. Playoffs will be single elimination. The tournament should conclude around 3:30pm.

Zachary High will also provide a lunch option for teams to allow the playoffs to start on time. Teams can pay $10.00 to receive one large, one-topping pizza and a water/soda for up to six players. Teams can purchase as many pizza lunches as they wish. All lunch orders must be made and completed during the 8:00am-8:30am check in on Saturday morning. Schools will need to pay in cash or checks made out to cash for their orders. Any school opting not to buy pizza will need to have someone who can pick up lunch for their team(s) and have the food brought to campus by 12:30pm. This will allow the tournament to stay on schedule.

We aim to provide a quality and efficiently-run tournament, and we hope to see you there. For all quiz bowl tournaments scheduled during the coming year, please see Please email me if you have any questions. Thank you!
